New barber shop opens in Catterick Garrison

A local couple are expanding their business by opening their second barber shop.

The Mens Room open at Hilyard Row in Catterick Garrison on Monday, taking over a former men’s clothing shop.

Owners Dan and Bev Kilvington-Mason opened their first shop at Friar’s Corner in Richmond in 2017.

Dan has worked in the area for the past 32 years.

Bev said: “It all started with just Dan and then we soon took on Kai as an apprentice.

“The business has grown massively and extended beyond our imagination when we first opened.

“We took Andy on full time in January 2019 and the shop has just got busier and busier.

“We were approached over a year ago and asked if we would like premises on the garrison and it’s been in the pipeline for a long time.”

Bev added: “The garrison is growing massively and we feel now is the right time to expand our business and open on the in the town.

“It’s a fantastic shop in a great location. We are also taking on another full time member of staff, Conor, a fully qualified barber who previously had won Saks Apprentice of the Year Award.

“We are also employing an apprentice Jack , giving another local lad a chance of learning this now popular trending trade”

The new shop was opened by Garrison Sergeant Major Leon Reeve on Monday.
