The new cafe bar at The Station in Richmond is taking shape.

The changes will see the partition in the middle of the restaurant area removed.

A new bar is being built against the back wall and a window has been created into the kitchen so that visitors can see their food being prepared.

The kitchen has also been completely refitted.

The cafe bar will be run for The Station by husband and wife team Gareth and Emma Bottomley.

Gareth is the former head chef at The CB in Arkengarthdale.

The couple have been hard at work in recent weeks preparing for the opening which will be on September 22.

Gareth said they would be sourcing as much as the food and drink served in the cafe bar from the local area.

He said: “I think as part of the Richmond food scene it’s important we should take this responsibility seriously and make sure that we keep the pound we spend inside the Richmond area as much as possible to help the local economy.

“Our suppliers are fantastic suppliers all with local connections and a real passion for the area and the food industry.”

The suppliers include Stoneygate Farm in Ravensworth and the Yorkshire Dales Meat Company, Richmond fruit and veg company Neeps and Tatties and Wenslydale Eggs, while the cheese will come from the Swaledale Cheese Company.

“With so many amazing suppliers in the local area it makes my job really enjoyable and a lot easier,” said Gareth.
