New Catterick Garrison primary school holds open event

The school is based at the former Darlington College site.

Catterick’s new primary school is holding an open event on next month for people to find out more about the school.

Cambrai Primary School is set to open in September 2019 on Catterick Road, the site previously occupied by Darlington College.

It is due to be extensively renovated and transformed, internally and externally, to create classrooms and an outdoor play area.

The open event will take place at Catterick Leisure Centre on Monday, December 3 2018, at 11am to 12.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm.

Mark Dent, executive head at Cambrai Primary School, said: “Cambrai is a school for the whole community and we welcome everyone along who wants to find out more about the school, the building and our team.

“At Cambrai, pupils will receive a high-quality teaching experience through an exciting curriculum and our focus will be on children feeling safe and nurtured.

“We will be using our space to help children reach their full potential, with learning in classrooms, outdoors, via class trips, through ICT and play.

“Cambrai’s leadership team is adopting an inclusive, family approach to school life and promoting high aspirations for children, regardless of background – academically, socially, through sports and the arts.”

The school is part of Lingfield Education Trust which won the bid for the new school after education bosses forecast the area would have a shortage of primary school places.
