A chef has swapped football for golf after being appointed as the new head chef at Richmond Golf Club.

The club says Helen Ripley comes with a wealth of experience having been a chef for over 30 years with recent employment including stints at Darlington Football Club, The Tuns at Sadberge and more recently the Croft Spa Hotel.

Now she hopes to put Richmond Golf Club, located on the edge of the town at Bend Hagg, on the map as a leading destination for food, drinks and events.

Helen said: “When I got the call from Bruce Tate, club chairman, I knew instantly that this was another exciting opportunity to reinvent another great establishment.

“I bring to the table excellent home cooking, Sunday lunches and catering for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, christenings.

“Getting to work with a fantastic team of staff who create such a warm and friendly atmosphere has made working in the beautiful surroundings of Richmond Golf Club all the more special. The club has huge parking facilities which is an added bonus for visitors.

“The challenge for me now is to establish the golf club as a great place to eat for golfers and members of the public alike.”
