New Covid cases continue to fall in Richmondshire

Daily positive tests in Richmondshire.

The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Richmondshire continues to fall.

However, there has been an increase in the number of people who have died after contracting the virus.

The latest Government figures show the average number of positive tests has fallen to below six a day in the district.

There have now been 1,071 confirmed cases in the district.

There were no positive tests recorded on Saturday, although this could change as records are updated.

Office for National Statistics figures show 56 people have now died after testing positive for the virus since the start of the year.

This includes five people who died in hospital in November.

These are the first deaths of Richmondshire residents, where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate since July.

Since the start of the year, 512 people have died in total in the district of all causes.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
