Plans have been drawn up for a new holiday park at Dalton Gates, between Scorton and Darlington.
Planning permission has been requested for 47 static caravans on the site of a former plant nursery in West Lane.
The plans, prepared for applicant Ward Leisure (NE) Limited, have been submitted to Richmondshire District Council.
A children’s play area and landscaping are proposed as part of the scheme.
Supporting documents submitted with the plan state that it is envisaged the development will be set out over a 12 to 24-month period when work for local contractors will be created.
The documents say visitors to the site will use local shops and pubs, thereby improving their viability.
The documents state: “The planning application seeks full planning permission for the redevelopment of the site at West Lane, Dalton Gates, to provide a landscaped holiday park providing accommodation in the form of pitches for static caravans.
“A total of 47 units area proposed.”
They add: “It is submitted that the proposed development is acceptable and represents an appropriate form of sustainable development for the site.
“Accordingly, it is hoped that the Local Planning Authority will look favourably upon this planning application and grant planning permission subject to appropriate conditions.”
