A new junior football club is set to launch in Richmond.
Richmond Rockets Junior Football Club is being formed by parent and qualified FA coach Pete Bogojevic.
The club is recruiting boys and girls from Richmond and the surrounding areas to form teams who will play in the Hambleton and Richmondshire Junior Football League next season.
Initially, the club is hoping to run an under-8s team, and potentially under-7s, next season.
Pete is planning to oversee coaching, while his wife Mandy will take care of the administration.
The couple are receiving support from the North Riding FA to ensure they had the necessary checks and structure in place.
The new club is in talks with Trinity Academy Richmond about using their facilities for training and matches.
Pete, who has previously been a coach at Richmond JFC, said he believed Richmond was big enough for two junior clubs to be successful.
He added: “There are several big primary schools in Richmond and lots of children who at the moment aren’t playing for a team.
“There are also surrounding villages with lots of children who might like to play.”
Pete added that the emphasis at the club would be on children having fun and developing their skills.
He added: “All abilities are very welcome — we just need children to be enthusiastic about football and have committed parents/carers who love to get involved and support.
“We will also be looking to recruit a couple of parents to join our committee and help make our new club a big success.”
The club would like to hear from any parents whose children might be interested in joining. Initially, they would like to hear from parents with children in school years one and two.
