New physiotherapist business opens in Richmond

Two physiotherapists have launched a new business in Richmond

Physio 42 opened this week at 42 Newbiggin, in the former Co-op Funeralcare premises.

The business has been launched by friends Louise Atkinson and Alex Percival.

Mother-of-three Louise has worked as a physiotherapist for more than 12 years.

She added: “It is safe to say it often doesn’t feel like a job, more that it is my passion and I love to help and guide people back to full fitness and health.

“I am focused on finding the underlying problem that causes peoples pain and injury and helping them to regain that zest for life. After all life is for living.”

Louise specialised in trauma orthopaedics however since having my family eight years ago she transferred her skills into purely musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

“I currently work for the NHS part time as a spinal specialist extended scope practitioner, as well as my own private work.

“I treat a wide range of conditions including, acute or long term back/neck pain, sports injuries and post-operative rehab. My special interests are in back pain and biomechanics of the lower limb.”

Alex has a special interest in women’s health.

The mother-of-two has worked within the NHS and private sector since 2008.

“As well as treating women both ante and postnatally, I also treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.

“I have developed my skills through working in various environments within the NHS, private sector and sports clubs

“I am very passionate about physiotherapy and combine numerous hands on techniques, along with advice on strength and conditioning exercises, to help with prevention, recovery and rehabilitation.”

Alex is also a qualified pre and postnatal yoga instructor, teaching classes on a weekly basis.
