A new sprung floor has been installed in the studio at Leyburn Arts and Community Centre.

The improvements comes after a major fundraising effort by volunteers, who also stripped out the room and prepared the floor ready for the specialist contractors to save both time and money.

Jeannie Bishop, from the community centre, said: “The new floor is now level, very smart, the room re-decorated, ugly piping has been boxed in and will benefit the groups who use the room for their activities.

“In particular it will benefit young dancers by being kinder on the ankles.

“At the opening event demonstrations were given by Dales School of Performing Arts and two volunteers, Joan and Carl from the Sequence Dancing sessions held in the centre.”

The centre’s next major project is the community shed which began with the proposal for a men’s shed way back in 2019.

The plan is for a multi-use shed with disabled access.
