New tenants wanted for acclaimed Dales pub

An acclaimed Yorkshire Dales pub and restaurant has been put on the market for rent.

The leasehold for the Blue Lion at East Witton is being offered due to the retirement of the current long-serving landlords.

The pub has been run by Paul and Helen Klein for more than 30 years.

As well as the bar and restaurant, the business has 15 letting rooms.

The lease is being offered at a rate of £90,000 a year.

The sale details from agents Fleurets state that the pub has a turnover net of VAT of between £20,000 and £25,000 a week.

The sale details state: “This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operator to take over control of a superb property, which is well run and well established.

“Despite its solid trade there are clearly opportunities to build the business with enhanced use of the garden areas to the rear for weddings and the use of outside marquees.”

The pub is owned by the Clifton & East Witton Estate, with an inn sitting on the site since 1840 having originally started out life as a shooting lodge.

The Blue Lion has won the Good Pub Guide’s Dining Pub of the Year Award three times and has received numerous glowing reviews from food critics.
