New youth club opens at Richmond venue

A new weekly youth club has launched at a Richmond venue.

The club will take place every Monday evening at the Comrades in Newbiggin.

It is being run by the club in partnership with the North Yorkshire Youth charity.

Edwina Anderson. youth development worker for Richmondshire, said: “Over the last 9 months NYY have been delivering detached youth work around Richmond on a Monday evening.

“It soon became clear that a youth club was needed in Richmond.

“That would provide a safe warm environment where young people could meet have fun, learn new skills, access information on services such as mental health, apprenticeships and jobs, local community events.”

Edwina said North Yorkshire Youth approached Nathan and Craig at the Comrades who were keen to support the idea, with further support provided by Councillor Stuart Parsons and Richmondshire area partnership funding.

The club runs 6.30pm to 8.30pm and is open to children aged seven and over.

The cost is £1 and entrance is via the rear door to the venue.
