‘No offence committed’ after armed police called to Wensleydale village

Police say no offence was committed after armed officers were called to a Wensleydale village last night.

Police were called following reports of people with a weapon at an address in Spennithorne.

Officers arrived to find it was a group of teenagers shooting an air rifle in a garden.

Inspector Mark Gee, from Richmondshire neighbourhood policing team, said: “I can confirm three teenagers with an air rifle were shooting pellets in a rear garden and within the confines of that property, and that no offences were committed.

“Police did receive a report of people with a weapon and we responded accordingly, but were quickly able to resolve the issue.”
