Northern Antiques Fair to be held in Leyburn this week

Collection of 19th & 20th century English & Scandinavian glass.

The Northern Antiques Fair will return to The Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn from Thursday to Sunday this week.

Running for the fifth year at the venue, the fair has been a fixture of the UK antiques calendar since it was first established in 1951. Around 40 of the country’s leading dealers will showcase items including furniture, fine art, jewellery, ceramics, clocks, silver, glass, sculpture, rugs, maps and decorative object.

Highlights this year include Capel Caersalem by Sir Kyffin Williams (c1975), priced at £38,000 from Mark Rowles Fine Art, a rare Mercer 8-day mantel chronometer from 1930 (£16,500 from Frodsham Clocks), and a Chippendale period mahogany triple camel back settee (£12,500 from W R Harvey & Co).

New exhibitors include Breckland Antiques of Norfolk, specialising in the Arts & Crafts period, and Mark Rowles Fine Art of Shropshire. Returning dealers include Blackbrook Gallery, Hickmet Fine Arts, Howards Jewellers, and Walker Galleries, alongside Yorkshire and northern exhibitors such as Carnes Fine Art, Graham Reed Fine Art and J Dickinson Maps & Prints.

Organisers say the fair attracts collectors, interior designers and enthusiasts, with items on offer ranging from under £100 to five-figure sums.

The event will once again support RABI, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

The Northern Antiques Fair runs from 9 to 12 October at The Garden Rooms, Tennants, Leyburn.
