The bus service that featured in BBC4’s All Aboard! The Country Bus programme last year is running again this summer thanks to fundraising efforts by local organisations.
Northern Dalesman bus 830 restarts for the summer season this weekend, running every Sunday and Bank Holiday until 24 September.
The 40-mile route from Richmond to Ingleton takes passengers up Swaledale through a blossoming river valley, past ancient meadows, agricultural pastures and ancient mining villages, over high open heathland and the spectacular Buttertubs Pass.
This story continues after the adverts:
The final stretch is from Hawes across the hilly Dales past the incredible 24-arch Ribblehead viaduct, one of the great engineering achievements of the 19th Century and recently featured in the ITV series Jericho to Ingleton.
The service provides a great way for people to get out into the countryside for walking or sightseeing, and is especially popular with the elderly and other people without cars.
The service is operated by Arriva North East on behalf of DalesBus, with financial support from Northern Powergrid and donors to a fundraising campaign by the Yorkshire Dales Society.
The bus leaves Richmond Market Place at 10.30am every Sunday and Bank Holiday until 24 September 2017.
