Nursery children hold ‘graduation’ ceremony

A group of little learners celebrated leaving a Richmondshire village nursery with a special graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was held at Barton Village Hall for the youngsters from High Bank Day Nursery in Stapleton, near Darlington, to mark the end of their final year before moving on to primary school this month.

The children proudly donned gowns and mortarboards for the event. They sang and danced to songs from The Greatest Showman including ‘This is Me’ before receiving their graduation certificates.

The day ended with a party tea and graduation cake.

Hayley Grainger, High Bank Nursery Manager, said: “The children and their parents had such a lovely day.

“Some of the children have been with us since they were babies and whilst it is always sad to see them go, we are proud to have played a part in their development and we wish them every success in the future.”
