A nursery teacher inspired by the fundraising efforts of Captain Sir Tom Moore has completed a 100km run around her village in just one day.
Jess Young, from Aldbrough St John, who works at Trinity Academy Richmond, took on the challenge on Saturday.
Jess completed loops around her village from 6am and finished on Saturday afternoon.
Mrs Young, a coach for Swaledale Runners, can often be seen out and about running across Richmondshire and has a particular passion for teaching beginners to run.
She is also no stranger to long distance running, having previously completed the London Marathon and The Wainwright Coast to Coast Route, but 100km was her greatest distance covered in a single day.
Mrs Young said: “The Captain Tom Foundation is such a worthy cause and I hope by sharing my adventure with the children that we can encourage a new generation of Captain Toms.”
Other children and staff at Trinity Academy Richmond have been completing challenges linked to the number 100.
Executive headteacher, Kate Williamson, said: “We are so proud of all of our children and staff who have taken on these challenges that truly embody our school ethos of dream, believe, achieve.”
Jess has already raised m ore than £1,200 for the foundation.
