Objections to planned extension at Richmond restaurant

La Piazza.

Community leaders have raised objections to plans to extend a Richmond restaurant.

The owners of La Piazza in Dundas Street want to build an extension at the front of the building.

The extension would cover an area currently used as a patio and would add an additional 85 square metres of seating space to the restaurant.

However, Richmond Town Council has raised concerns about the addition.

Councillors said there would be loss of amenities and open space.

They also raised concerns over the impact of trees on Zetland Square and creation of traffic a blind spot on the west entrance of restaurant car park.

Richmond Civic Society has also objected.

A spokesperson said: “We object to this proposal as there is insufficient detail on the design and materials of the proposed
extension.

“The plans do not show the position of the proposed extension in relation to the adjacent building and public footpath.
