One person rescued after crash on A66 near Ravensworth

Emergency services were called to a collision on the A66 near Ravensworth this morning.

Crews from Richmond Fire Station attended the incident, which happened in the build-up of an earlier accident on the same stretch of road.

Firefighters extricated one person from a vehicle, who was then transferred into the care of ambulance crews at the scene.

Traffic was reported to be queuing for several miles in both directions, with delays expected to continue while the road was cleared.
