An open air cinema is planned for when the UCI World Cycling Championships comes to the district next month – and local people are being invited to choose which films will be screened.

Richmond Town Council is hosting the event on Thursday 26 September.

Once the Junior Men’s race has left the Market Place it will be turned into an open air cinema ready for the first, child friendly film, showing at 4.30pm. Film number two follows at 7.30pm.

But to decide which should be screened an on line poll has been set up on Richmondshire District Council’s Facebook site. It closes on September 6.

The film choices at 4.30pm are: Toy Story, Early Man, Paddington, The Lego Movie, The Incredibles, Peter Rabbit and Despicable Me.

And at 7.30pm the choices are: Mamma Mia, Grease, Bohemian Rhapsody and The Greatest Showman.

The event is free to attend – all filmgoers need is a deckchair.

Food and drink stalls will be available.
