Open meeting in Leyburn to discuss business rates

The Lower Wensleydale Business Network (LWBN) says it has responded to the demand from local businesses for more clarity on business rates by arranging and hosting an open meeting.

David Poole, from LWBN, said business owners believed that the imposition of the new business rates was placing an unacceptable burden on their businesses and the future of trade in the area and particularly in Leyburn.

He added that had they had pointed to the apparent unfairness of the rates and the difficulties in being able to challenge the basis on which the rates had been set.
