Painting stolen from Catterick Golf Club

Police are appealing for information following the theft of a painting from Catterick Golf Club.

The picture has a brass plaque below it stating Fred Daly 1947 Open Champion.

Police say the theft occurred in recent weeks, but haven’t been more specific.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “If anyone knows the whereabouts of the painting or witnessed the theft, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.”

Fred Daly MBE was a Northern Irish professional golfer, best known for winning The Open Championship in 1947 at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake.

He served with the Green Howards.
