Plans for 20 industrial units in Brompton-on-Swale to be examined

Plans for a new industrial site in Brompton-on-Swale will be discussed by councillors next week.

Castlevale Industrial Park is proposed for land of Gatherley Road in the village.

The development would include three industrial buildings featuring 20 individual units, which could be used as workshops, offices, storage, light industrial or for distribution.

The units would be two-storey and there would be space for parking for 45 cars.

The scheme has the support of the district council’s business and community manager who says the units will “meet
locally identified need for such units, along with potentially stopping the migration of existing businesses out of the area as they are unable to secure local grow on space”.

Brompton-on-Swale Parish Council says it is pleased the land looks to be put to better use, but has raised a number of questions about the scheme, including asking what type of work will be carried out in the units.

In response, planning agent Chris Hodges, said on behalf of the applicant Gatherley Developments Ltd, that possible uses included interiors internet sales, motor parts sales, internet florists sales, mechanical and electrical contractors, plumbing distribution, electronic and electrical engineering, small scale manufacturing, and plumbers’ and builders’ stores.

The scheme will be recommended for approval when councillors meet next Tuesday.
