Plans for 67 homes in Hipswell to go before planners

The homes would be built on land off Hipswell Road.

Plans for 67 new homes in Hipswell, Catterick Garrison, will go before planners next week.

Developers want to built the properties at Hipswell Croft off Hipswell Road.

Of the 67 homes proposed, 15 would be classed as affordable and the others sold at the market rate.

The affordable homes would include five two-bedroom properties, five three-bedroom houses and five bungalows.

Two properties would be demolished to make way for the new housing.

The scheme will go before Richmondshire District Council planners on Tuesday next week.

A previous application for 72 homes on the site was granted in 2013 but has since expired.

The application is recommended for approval subject to a number of conditions.

Officers are recommending the developers pay around £220,000 towards capital improvements at nearby Hipswell Primary School and £22,000 for improvements to the play and recreation area in Hipswell.

As part of the scheme, the developer would contribute almost £20,000 to improve the sports pitches at Colburn Leisure Centre.

More than £360,000 would also be given to create additional key stage one places at Colburn Primary School.
