Plans submitted for eco-lodge holiday complex near Middleham

The holiday complex would be built at Hillside Farm, near Middleham.

Plans have been submitted for a luxury eco-lodge holiday complex near Middleham.

A planning application has been submitted to Richmondshire District Council to convert a yard used by a haulage firm.

15 luxury holiday lodges would be built on part of the yard at Hillside Farm, between Middleham and East Witton.

Supporting documents submitted with the plans state: “The current use of the site is for the parking of Heavy Goods Vehicles and trailers associated with my clients current business SW Adamson Haulage.

“Part of the development site is on grazing land used by my clients sheep flock.”

The documents add: “It is felt that the scheme we have provided will have a great deal of advantages to the local
economy.

“The landscape impact will be minimal with the incorporation of major soft landscaping and tree planting.

“The lodges and becoming an integral part of farm diversification and with Great Britain leaving the European union farmers and business will need to rely on additional forms of income such as tourism, this will have to stack up financially to the land owner and will always push the limits on what is requested by the planning authority.”
