Plans are taking shape for the inaugural Swinifest event at Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite.
Swinifest is a day of live music, with a hog roast and bar
The event will be held from 1.30pm until late on August 31.
The confirmed bands booked to perform include Smokin Spifires, 1Two3Four and Angus Johnston
Dales chef Guy Fairhurst, who took over at Berry’s earlier this year, has unveiled a busy programme of events at the popular Wensleydale cafe and farm shop he runs with his wife Elena.
Guy has been running a catering business in the Dales for the last decade, firstly with his mum Susan and more recently with Elena.
The move to Berry’s only came about following a chance conversation with owner Bridget Thornton-Berry.
Bridget told the chef they were looking for someone to take on the premises and Guy said he immediately knew it would be a good fit for his business, which was previously based at the Key Centre in Middleham.
Guy said he wanted to build on the work already done by the Thornton-Berrys and to build the business, with trade from both visitors and locals.
One of his aims when taking on the premises was to make the most of the space at Berry’s and host more events.
A full summer schedule has now been put together with events taking place every month.
Guy said: “I am really excited for the plans we have for Summer and beyond.
“I have always wanted to have the opportunity to hold some events, and the wonderful courtyard and cafe space that we have here at Berry’s has given me just that.
“We are kicking our summer season off with an Indian curry and beer night, with an event each month after that.
“There is a tremendous buzz about the place at the moment and we are enjoying the positive feedback.”
Advance tickets for Swinifest are £7.50, and £10 on the door. Under 16 are free
