Plans take shape for Richmond’s Christmas market

Plans are taking for this year’s annual Christmas market.

The event will take place from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, December 3.

It is being run this year by Richmond Town Council after an independent committee which organised previous events decided to fold.

This year, Little Bird Markets will run a market in the Market Place with more than 50 craft, food and drink stalls.

Richmond Artisan Fairs will organise 15 craft stalls in the Town Hall.

There will also be a stage opposite the Kings Head featuring performances from Rhythm & Shoes Dance Academy, Service Children Community Choir, Richmond School Band and others.

Free parking will be available on the day in Nuns Close car park and Victoria Road, north and south car parks.

A spokesperson for the town council said: “In previous years, Richmond Town Christmas market was organised by an independent committee, who sadly folded earlier this year due to a lack of volunteers.

“The committee were a dedicated team who worked incredibly hard in their own time not just on the day but well in advance, arranging funding for the event along with independently bringing in stalls and performers, advertising and marketing the event – the list is endless.

“Therefore, we would like to thank them for all of their work and the successful events they provided.

“Due to the change in operations earlier this year, the Christmas Market will be on a smaller scale to previous years but we look forward to welcoming you to enjoy a day full of festive cheer.”
