An outdoor children’s play area has been created at St Matthews Church in Leyburn.
The play area will be used by children and carers from Leyburn Playgroup, which meets at the church every Tuesday morning during term time.
The fencing for the area was paid for with a donation from Leyburn Band, which raised the money at its Christmas concert at the Garden Rooms at Tennants.
Sarah Willis, a volunteer with the playgroup, said; “We are very grateful both to Leyburn Band for the financial support and to the church for creating such a lovely space for the children.
“We can’t wait to make full use of it this summer.”
The playgroup is currently appealing for donations of outdoor toys suitable for toddlers, as well as volunteers to help run the group on Tuesday mornings.
