North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following a theft from a vehicle in Middleton Tyas.
The incident happened at around 2.25am on Monday, December 15, on the Middleton Crescent estate.
An orange STIHL MS260 chainsaw was stolen from a vehicle parked in the area.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious vehicles or people in the estate at the time of the theft.
Residents with CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam recordings covering the area during the early hours are urged to check their footage.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 12250235157.
