Police are appealing for information after sheep and lambs were chased by a dog near Brompton-on-Swale.
The incident happened at around 1.15pm on Sunday, April 19, on land between Catterick Bridge Waste Recycling Centre and the B6271.
Officers say a tri-colour beagle wearing a woven, mixed-colour collar was involved, and they are particularly keen to identify the dog’s owner.
North Yorkshire Police have reminded dog owners that sheep worrying is a criminal offence and can have serious consequences for livestock.
A spokesperson said such incidents can cause significant distress and injury to animals, and in some cases can lead to death, as well as financial loss for farmers.
Dog owners are urged to keep their pets under control when walking near livestock, especially during lambing season, and to use a lead where necessary.
Police added that courts now have increased powers to deal with offenders, including unlimited fines and the seizure of dogs involved in attacks.
