Police are appealing for information after a livestock trailer was stolen in the Hawes area and later recovered in County Durham.
North Yorkshire Police said the Richardson sheep trailer was taken between 10pm on Wednesday, March 18 and 7am the following morning.
Residents near where the trailer had been parked reported hearing suspicious noises at around 10.30pm.
The trailer was later captured on CCTV at about 3.03am on Thursday, March 19 in the Winston, County Durham area, where it was being towed by a silver vehicle.
Officers believe the trailer may have been used in connection with the theft of a quad bike.
It was subsequently spotted by Durham Police abandoned in a lay-by on the A67 near Winston.
PC Heather Campbell, of the Leyburn neighbourhood policing team, is now urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has relevant footage to come forward.
She is asking residents and businesses to check CCTV, doorbell or dashcam recordings for any sightings of a silver vehicle towing a trailer in the area during the early hours of March 19.
Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police, quoting reference 12260049068.
