Police appeal after two cars collide on A684

Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision on the A684 in Wensleydale.

Nobody was injured in the crash but one of the vehicles failed to stop despite being damaged.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses, dash-cam and CCTV footage about a fail-to-stop, damage-only collision on A684 between Swinithwaite and West Witton at 11.05pm on Friday.

“The Range Rover that was travelling towards Swinithwaite and the Berlingo was heading in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the van did not stop at the scene despite the vehicle sustaining substantial offside damage.

“Luckily no one was hurt.”

Police say that following enquires the driver of the van was identified.

He is due to be interviewed about the collision this week.

The spokesperson added: “We’re appealing to drivers who may have been in the area and have relevant dash-cam or properties along the route with private CCTV.”
