Police appeal after biker seriously injured in Hawes crash

Police are appealing for any witnesses after a serious collision near Hawes.

At about 11.40am yesterday on the B6255 at Widdale Foot between Hawes and Newby Head, a black and red motorcycle left the road and collided with a wall.

The rider, a man in his 30s, suffered serious injuries, and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

The man was flown to hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for the service said: “We were called to treat a male motorcyclist near Garsdale, west of Hawes.

“He had sustained head injuries, as well as serious chest and abdominal injuries.

“After administering advanced care on scene, GNAAS flew him to hospital in Preston.”
