Police in Catterick Garrison have issued an appeal for witnesses after a crash last week.
The incident occurred on on Monday, November 12 at 6.18pm.
A vehicle was seen turning right out of Horne Road onto Catterick Road.
However, it collided with a the pedestrian crossing, knocking down the handrail.
The vehicle then drove off, turning left into the Albemarle estate.
The vehicle was dark in colour and possibly a BMW.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We believe there was a number of witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who may have taken details of the vehicle.
“Lack of due care when driving has the potential to cause serious harm to the public and we are grateful on this occasion that no one was hurt.”
