Police have given an update information after a 10-year-old girl reported being followed while walking home from school.
North Yorkshire Police received a report at about 4.45pm yesterday from the girl’s mother that her daughter had been followed while walking back from school.
Police spoke to the family and officers carried out a search of the area around the Chase estate in Catterick Garrison.
However, Inspector Mark Gee, from Richmondshire police, said that having made further enquires today, police were satisfied that the incident was not as first reported.
He added: “Whilst I appreciate this will have caused concern within the community, I can confirm that police are not looking for anyone in connection with this report.
“I once again thank the community for their assistance, but our enquiries have now been concluded”.
