Police appeal after spate of burglaries in Wensleydale

Police are appealing for information and urging residents and businesses to be watchful after a spate of thefts in Wensleydale.

On Thursday night or Friday morning thieves broke into The Chippie in Hawes and a safe containing cash stolen.

Earlier in the week an unoccupied house in Redmire was broken into.

The crime took place between Sunday and Wednesday.

Between March 26 and Wednesday a farm building in Spennithorne was broken into.

A strimmer was taken, however it was later recovered on the show field in Leyburn.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents is urged to call Leyburn Police on 101.

There has also been a spate of oil and diesel thefts across Richmondshire in the last two weeks.

Police have urged people to ensure tanks and outbuildings are as secure as possible.
