Police appeal for witnesses to Jervaulx barn fire

Police have issued an appeal for information after a large barn fire on Sunday.

More than 20 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at a farm at Kilgram Lane, Jervaulx, between Middleham and Masham.

The incident was reported at about 1.30am on Sunday.

The fire service said at the weekend that they believed the cause was deliberate and North Yorkshire Police have confirmed today that they are investigating.

A spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding it.

“At this stage it is being treated as suspicious.”

Police  are appealing for witnesses and information that could assist the investigation.
