Police cadets from Catterick Garrison spent an evening meeting members of the public and sharing crime prevention advice during a community engagement event at Tesco.
The cadets spoke with shoppers about their role, offered practical advice on staying safe, and listened to concerns and issues affecting local residents.
The event formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen links between the police and the communities they serve, while also giving cadets valuable experience in public engagement.
PC Heather Campbell praised the young volunteers for their enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the evening.
She said: “Police Cadets from our Catterick Garrison unit have been busy in Tesco this evening, spending time with shoppers and getting involved in some great community engagement.
“They were on hand to talk about what they do, share crime prevention advice, and most importantly, listen to what matters to you in your local area.
“It’s always brilliant to see our Cadets building confidence and connecting with the community – they’re a real credit to the team.”
The cadet programme provides young people with opportunities to learn about policing, develop new skills and play an active role in supporting their local communities.
