Police called after dog gets loose on A1(M)

Police were called this evening after a dog got loose on the A1(M).

The incident happened at around 5.45pm on the northbound carriageway just south of the Scotch Corner junction.

The dog could be seen running south along the hard shoulder with a man running after the animal.

Several police vehicles were on the scene.

Witness Phoebe Willis said: “It was running quite fast.

“It was a black dog. It looked like a cockerpoo or maybe a poodle.”

It is understood the dog was a spaniel which was safely recovered near the Catterick junction.
