Police have conducted speed checks in Richmond and villages in the Dales today.

Officers from Richmondshire Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out checks in Sleegill in Richmond, Bellerby, West Witton, Aysgarth, Hawes and Reeth.

Sergeant Lauren Wilkinson said: “Thankfully 99% of vehicles checked were abiding by the speed limits with only one driver spoken to and given words of advice.

“We received some great feedback from the community in relation to this so thank you if you did stop by for a chat and a natter about any local concerns you have.

“We could pop up anywhere so please ensure you stick to the rules of the road and don’t get caught out.”

The officer added: “On a side note please do keep yourselves safe this weekend particularly with the bad weather that we have forecast and drive in accordance with the road conditions.

“Hopefully sunny weather will be on the horizon again for us all soon.”

  1. I find it beyond belief that 99 %of traffic coming through Bellerby was adhering to the speed limit . It probably has more to do with the positioning of any cameras than the social responsibility of drivers and motorbike riders .

  2. This has to be good news if 99% of drivers are abiding by the 30 MPH speed limits.

There should be no need for any NEW 20 MPH speed limits.
