Police have confirmed a man was arrested after online paedophile hunters confronted a man in Richmondshire yesterday.

Members of 365 Hunters filmed live in the village of Ravensworth as they spoke to a man they said had engaged in sexual conversations with a decoy who told him she was a 12-year-old girl.

The video showed police arriving and arresting the suspect before taking him away in a police van.

The footage of the confrontation has been watched by tens of thousands of Facebook users.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said today: “On the morning of 28 August, North Yorkshire Police arrested a man in his 20s from the Richmondshire area on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a chid and attempted to cause a child to engage in sexual activity.

“The man was given conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out. The investigation is ongoing.”

  1. Were any of those harassing a man who is innocent until proven guilty arrested too?
