Police “deal robustly” with door-to-door sellers in Wensleydale

Police say they have “dealt robustly” with door-to-door sellers in Wensleydale.

Residents reported three men trying to sell items to householders in Middleham and Harmby this week.

A spokesperson for Richmondshire neighbourhood policing team, said: “Suspect vehicle and three males selling household items door to door in areas of Middleham and Harmby were located and dealt with robustly.

“The males did not have a legitimate peddlers license and the police do not encourage any cold calling in the area.

“Please do not engage or open your door to cold callers, instead we strongly advise you to contact 101 if there are further incidents.

“Many thanks to all those who took the time to report the incident and to those who helped locate the males.”

  1. No doubt a slap on the wrist and don’t do it again, would be interesting to hear how robustly they dealt with these peddlers. Because where I live we report them then by the time the police turn up they have long gone and on its goes. Did they give them all a good tasering after stinging their tyres and ramming them off the road in a police interceptors manoeuvre followed by the dog section bringing them down after the police helicopter located them via thermal imaging!!
    Robustly, I bet it was!

  2. It would be interesting to know what ‘robustly’ means. For many years police have just been ensuring they left the immediate area, in other words passing on the problem to someone else, which I know from first hand experience, not just by reading about it.
