North Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are investigating a suspicious incident in Leyburn at the weekend.
The incident happened in the market place at about 4pm on Saturday near the memorial.
A man approached a 15-year-old girl and after talking to her, asked her to go for a walk on the Shawl.

The man was about 50-years-old and had grey hair.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police were contacted at 5.55pm on Saturday 25 March to report of suspect circumstances.
“A man approached a 15-year-old girl and spoke to her.
“Police are conducting enquiries in the area to determine the circumstances of the incident.”
