Police investigate spate of thefts across Richmondshire

Police say they are investigating a number of reports of theft and burglary in the Richmondshire area overnight.

Officers say a tipping trailer was stolen from Station Road in North Cowton.

The trailer was taken from a building site where two houses are currently being built.

In another incident, a van was broken into at the Holiday Inn at Scotch Corner with tools and cash stolen.

A barn was also entered in Arkengarthdale and a Honda 500 quad bike and a Honda CRF 250L trial bike were stolen.

Sergeant Lauren Wilkinson said: “We currently have officers either en-route or at the scene of each of these incidents ascertaining further lines of enquiry.

“We will pass further updates once we have them, but please take this as a reminder to ensure all valuables are locked and secure, and if you have CCTV, ensure this is working properly.

“Should you need to report any suspicious activity to us please do so on 101 or in an emergency 999.”
