
Police say the investigation into the theft of cocker spaniel Archie will continue after the dog was returned home at the weekend.
As revealed by Richmondshire Today on Saturday, the seven-year-old dog is back home after being returned to his owner the Birch family.
Details of how Archie was returned home are not being made public yet.
The dog was taken during a burglary at his home in Barden, near Leyburn, during the early hours of Friday, April 8.
Entry was forced into an outbuilding and the suspects left with the much-loved dog at sometime between 1am and 6am.
North Yorkshire Police had thanked everyone who shared their appeal to help reunite Archie with his family.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Your support makes all the difference with our appeals.”
The force said its investigation was still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the burglary.
It added that it was not able to share any further details at this stage.
