Police issue cold caller warning after Richmond incident

Police have urged residents to report cold calling after an incident in Richmond last week.

Cold callers were reported in Charles Court, Richmond and the surrounding area on Friday.

PCSO Vincent Long said: “Cold callers will often claim that they are taking part in a rehabilitation scheme, or are working legitimately for a company.

“They may also produce fake identification.

“They often try to sell goods or services at exorbitant prices, and may resort to using aggressive behaviour if their products or services are declined.

“North Yorkshire Police would like to encourage members of the public to report any instances of cold calling using 101, or 999 if appropriate.”
