
Police have urged members of the public to take care near water after yesterday’s incident at the falls in Richmond.
A 28-year-old man suffered head injuries following the incident yesterday afternoon.
A rescue operation involving North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team was needed to move the injured County Durham man from the falls to a waiting ambulance.
Following the incident police in Richmondshire, have urged members of the public to take care near water this summer.
They said: “During the school holidays, and in particular in this hot weather, North Yorkshire Police want to remind members of public the risks of entering open water.
“Water may look safe, but it can be dangerous.
“Before entering the water please consider warning and guidance signs, do not enter fast flowing water, be aware of underwater hazards, and never enter water after consuming alcohol.
“If someone is in difficulty in the water shout for help and call the emergency services.”
