Police have appalled for information after a theft from a van in Richmond last night — the latest in a spate of vehicle break-ins.
Two males, one wearing a grey hoodie, broke into a Ford Transit in Beechfield Avenue and stole tools including two Dewalt drills.
The pair were disturbed by the owner at about 10.45pm and ran off towards Gilling Road.
Inspector Mark Gee, from Richmond police, said: “Officers were on scene within minutes, and conducted an area search, which included a Police dog handler assisting.
“Unfortunately, the offenders were not located, and enquiries are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact NYP quoting the reference number 12190203928.”
He added: ” Anyone being offered power tools, that may be stolen should also contact the police.
“With the darker nights, I would appeal for people not to leave valuable in cars or vans, but secure then elsewhere.
“We have seen other vehicles broken into in recent weeks in villages near to the A66 area.”
