Detectives investigating a serious assault in Richmond Market Place have released a CCTV image of a man they are trying to trace.
The incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning, at around 12.40am, close to the town’s taxi rank.
A man in his 20s sustained serious head injuries after being punched and falling to the ground.
Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
North Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a full investigation is ongoing and officers are keen to speak to witnesses who may not yet have come forward.
Detectives believe the man shown in the released CCTV image may have important information that could assist the investigation.
