North Yorkshire Police were called in to reports of a stolen 4×4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Nissan Navara was brought to a stop at Scotch Corner.
However, police said it turned out to be a civil matter between former partners.
The driver was allowed to continue on their way.
Police said they located the driver using social media.
Probably not the best idea if you are driving around in a car that someone else has rights to possess to post what you are up to on snapchat!! Makes it easy to find out where the vehicle is??

What a waste of police resources used in this incident. Such a disappointment after being caught up in this incident. Hope the 2 old ladies who were escorted from their car were ok.
