Police have urged drivers to think twice before taking to the roads tonight following a number of accidents on the A66 and A1.
Fresh snow falls mean conditions on the roads are very poor, officers from North Yorkshire Police say.
The A1 has now reopened northbound at junction 50 at Ripon following an earlier collision.
This story continues after the adverts:
Police said there were multiple vehicles involved and one vehicle was on fire.
Incidents further north between Leeming and Scotch Corner have also been reported.
HIGH: We are receiving a high call demand regarding road-related incidents on the #A1M between #LeemingBar and #ScotchCorner Conditions on the #A66 are very poor too. I urge you not to travel unless you absolutely have to.

There have been several crashes on the A66 trans-Pennine route this afternoon, but Highways England says the road is passable with care.
It is understood a police car is among the vehicles that has slid off the road on the A66.
A66 is a bit hairy heading west. Particularly for the police car on top of the crash barrier with its wheel ripped off ❄️ ?♀️?
